Flying in Slovenia, XC guiding
A few day ago we finished guiding over Slovenia with a group of friends from Belgian (Els, Jan, Roland, Stinj) aka Els angels. The whole week we were followed by good will and good weather. We started the tour from Bled to Bohinj and with soaring in Karavanke popular flying spot Gozd. Next day we continued in the most famous Slovenian flying area of Soča Valley. Over the day east wind was too strong but still in the evening we succeeded in group cross country flight to Kobarid, just before dark. On Tuesday weather was better and takeoff Kobariški Stol was awaiting us. We made nice cross country to Italy over the ridges of Stol to Polovnik and pass of Krn mountain to Tolmin. Soča river was perfect for swimming and enjoying the view of beautiful girls. But, Belgians did not have enough. Thats why we did some more flying. Kobala offered us fantastic evening soaring. Afterwards we finished the day picnicking at the river Soča, Most na Soči. Weather directed us to the Primorska region and to the takeoff Lijak. After the first bombout (plufke) Lijak gave us favorable conditions for soaring and short cross country flight to Ajdovščina. Next day we were flying from Kovk, soaring and short cross country on the ridge. Because of the thunderstorms we went to the central part of Slovenia to Notranjska region. For Slivnica the wind was too strong, but also swimming in lake Cerknica was perfect. In the night and over the next day thunderstorms were washing the sky, thats why we rather visit caves of Postojna and gorges of Hell. Because of too strong wind, on the takeoff Zavrh in Notranjska region, Els angels went again to Bohinj and the next day finished the Odyssey over Slovenia with the short flight from Vogel. In short we had great week of flying in Slovenia.
